Supporting High-Quality Art & Design in Schools - INSET and CPD
Would you like to strengthen Art and Design Technology provision in your school? Are you looking to build staff confidence, refresh your curriculum, or better align your creative offer with Artsmark priorities? Our training sessions are interactive and practice-focused, providing clear guidance and practical ideas that can be applied directly in the classroom. For a hands-on approach, training can be delivered on site at your school, or remotely via Zoom.

Following completion of the training, we will provide our Artsmark Toolkit, a concise and user-friendly document designed to help you evaluate the impact of the training and support you in completing the Artsmark Award.
Each session is tailored to the needs of your school, allowing you to select the topics you wish to cover, agree a convenient date, and choose between a full-day, half-day, twilight session or remotely via Zoom.
Here is the list of topics we cover:
-
Sketching techniques and the fundementals of teaching art (includes advice on still life, landscapes and portrait drawing)
-
Painting (using watercolour, acrylic, mixing paints, applying different painting effects)
-
Working with clay
-
Textiles (weaving, embroidery, collage, batik)
-
Printing
-
Using sketchbooks
-
Studying artists and architects and speaking and listening through art
-
Five Steps for a successful DT unit
Staff Wellbeing - Willow Weaving
We also offer staff meetings and INSET sessions focused on wellbeing, providing staff with the opportunity to slow down, relax and enjoy a creative experience through willow weaving. These calm, hands-on sessions encourage mindfulness and stress reduction, away from the demands of the classroom.
All participants will learn core weaving techniques and create a finished piece to take home, making the session both rewarding and restorative.
