As we visit schools across the country through Art Room, we've been struck by the thoughtful and caring ways school leaders and staff are responding to the recent heatwave.
From providing extra water stations and ice pops, to relaxing uniform requirements, moving lunchtimes indoors, and adapting PE lessons, schools are once again demonstrating their ability to put children's wellbeing first.
What stands out isn't just the practical measures being taken, but the care behind them. These small adjustments make a big difference to pupils' comfort, concentration, and overall school experience during periods of extreme weather.
It's easy to take these actions for granted, but they require planning, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
A huge credit to headteachers, teachers, support staff, and site teams who continue to adapt quickly and thoughtfully to changing circumstances. It's been wonderful to see so many schools prioritising pupil wellbeing while maintaining the positive, nurturing environments that help children thrive.
