The Art Room is now part of Barnsley Children’s University
I’m really pleased to share some exciting news – The Art Room is now an official learning destination for Barnsley Children’s University!
This means that children who take part in activities and workshops run by The Art Room can collect Children’s University activity codes, recognising the learning they are doing through creative experiences beyond the classroom.
Children’s University celebrates learning that happens outside school, giving children opportunities to discover new interests, develop skills and keep track of their learning journey.

Learning through creativity
This is particularly exciting for The Art Room because so much of what I do is about giving children the opportunity to learn by making and doing.
Whether children are:
they are not simply making something to take home. They are developing practical skills, experimenting with materials, solving problems, making creative decisions and building confidence.
My workshops already take place in schools and community settings, giving children the chance to experience art and craft in different environments.
Creative experiences count
I love the idea that these creative experiences can now contribute to a child's Children’s University journey.
And remember...
Creative experiences count.
